We hope you have all had a lovely Easter Break. Spring is finally here and with lockdown being gradually lifted there is a sense of life “as we knew it” beginning to return.

Some highlights last term were the children learning the words and actions to the ‘How the dinosaurs died out…’ story adapted from ‘Little Rabbit Foo Foo’ by Michael Rosen – we hope you have been enjoying it being acted out at home! We now have two giant 3D dinosaurs on the wall In the pre-school room, Vern Velociraptor and Beryl Brontosaurus. These were decorated by the children using hand paints and large crayons etc.
We have now cleared and reassigned the whole of the outside space. Have a look when you drop off. We have more exciting things planned for this area.
Children at forest club had lots of adventures, having the chance to use tools, plant flowers and go on an Easter egg hunt in the forest.

Thank you all for continuing to support our fundraising efforts. There were so many wonderful costumes for World Book Day, with a Gruffalo, Mog, Stick Man, Princess Pearl and a dragon to name but a few and we were really grateful for all the donations to the Pre-School.

We have been delighted by the response to the Pre-School Lockdown Recipe Book and have received dozens of fantastic recipes from children and staff. It has now been compiled into a lovely book which we hope the children will treasure and will help to raise funds for the Pre-School. The recipe books will be £10 each. If you would like to order one please email bspsfundraising1@gmail.com stating how many you would like and we will send you payment details.

We have some exciting fundraising news as we are launching our very own Pre-School Lottery!
Every ticket you purchase raises funds for Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest Club. Tickets cost £1 per week. From each ticket you buy, 40p will be donated to the school of your choice and 36p will go towards a prize that must be won by someone supporting Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest Club. The first draw will be on 1st May. You can buy tickets here:

We have been busy planning more fundraising activities for this term. We are organising a sponsored toddle this term and the children will work as a team towards a 100-mile target, encouraging them to be active and get sponsored on the way. We will also be hosting a terra-cycle recycling point for Hasbro toys. Please do let Lin, Kate or someone on the committee know if you’re still interested in getting involved with the committee or helping out with any fundraising as we would love to hear from you. We will be holding an AGM in June to elect a new committee so do have a think if you’d like to get involved!

    February 2021

As another lockdown was announced after Christmas, we were hugely relieved to hear that Pre-Schools were allowed to remain open. We are enormously grateful to all our wonderful Pre-School staff for continuing to work and providing the opportunity for the children to benefit from ongoing access to the Pre-School environment. We feel very lucky in that respect.

Some highlights this term have been…the children learning the words and actions to the ‘Billy Goats Gruff’ story – we are sure many of you have been treated to a rendition or two at home. Children have been well wrapped up this term – spending as much time outdoors as possible and having windows open as has been recommended. Children at forest club have been having lots of fun in frosty mornings learning about maps and having treasure hunts in the forest.

Thank you so much to everyone for getting involved with our fundraising activities. We hope everyone is as excited as we are for Valentines Curry Night, kindly organised for the Pre-School by the fabulous team at Salt and Malt. We were delighted with the response and have had lots of orders. Our fundraising total for the year is over £2000 so far.

The committee have been busy planning some exciting fundraising activities for next term. We are planning a Pre-School Lockdown Recipe Book and will be shortly asking for your recipe ideas for baking and cooking with children. There are plans a foot for a sponsored toddle, an auction and events to mark World Book Day. We will also be hosting a terra-cycle recycling point for Hasbro toys. Please do let Lin, Kate or someone on the committee know if you’re still interested in getting involved with the committee or helping out with any fundraising as we’d love to hear from you.

    December 2020

What a term this has been full of excitement in the build up to Christmas. The children have now settled in well and are really getting to know each other and explore all of what Pre-School offers.

Some highlights this term have been……..the children learning the words and actions to the fabulously festive ‘The Rockin’ Robin’s Christmas Party’ story written by Lin and Julie, our old manager. Hopefully you’ve had lots of opportunity to join in with this story. The children have also been singing many festive songs including, Jingle Bells, When Santa got stuck up the chimney, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, We wish you a merry Christmas, and I’m a little snowman.

All of the children produced green handprints which were all combined into a Christmas Tree design for our super Christmas Card. At Forest Club on Thursdays, the children have continued to have lots of fun getting muddy in all weathers this season brings.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for getting involved with our fundraising activities. We are absolutely thrilled to report that almost £2000 has been raised for Pre-School this term. Our Christmas raffle was a huge success and we are extremely grateful to all the local businesses for donating incredible prizes (especially during these difficult times) and to everyone for buying so many tickets. We hope you all liked the Pre-School Christmas cards as much as we did. They were generously produced free of charge by a family member of a Pre-School parent, with all sale proceeds going straight to Pre-School.

The committee are already busy plotting fundraising activities for next term. There are plans in the pipeline for a sponsored toddle, an auction and events to mark World Book Day and Easter.

Please do let Lin, Kate or someone on the committee know if you’re still interested in getting involved with the committee or helping out with any fundraising as we’d love to hear from you.

As 2020 draws to a close, we are able to reflect on what an extraordinary year this has been. It has undoubtedly been a challenging time, and our thoughts are with all of you and your loved ones who have been affected by COVID. We hope you have been able to enjoy to some extent the additional family time the restrictions of this year have enforced. With vaccines on the horizon, we hope 2021 will be plainer sailing.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    With warmest wishes,

Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest Club Committee
