Bishop Sutton Pre-School & Forest Club Newsletter

February 2021

As another lockdown was announced after Christmas, we were hugely relieved to hear that Pre-Schools were allowed to remain open. We are enormously grateful to all our wonderful Pre-School staff for continuing to work and providing the opportunity for the children to benefit from ongoing access to the Pre-School environment. We feel very lucky in that respect.

Some highlights this term have been…the children learning the words and actions to the ‘Billy Goats Gruff’ story – we are sure many of you have been treated to a rendition or two at home. Children have been well wrapped up this term – spending as much time outdoors as possible and having windows open as has been recommended. Children at forest club have been having lots of fun in frosty mornings learning about maps and having treasure hunts in the forest.

Thank you so much to everyone for getting involved with our fundraising activities. We hope everyone is as excited as we are for Valentines Curry Night, kindly organised for the Pre-School by the fabulous team at Salt and Malt. We were delighted with the response and have had lots of orders. Our fundraising total for the year is over £2000 so far.

The committee have been busy planning some exciting fundraising activities for next term. We are planning a Pre-School Lockdown Recipe Book and will be shortly asking for your recipe ideas for baking and cooking with children. There are plans a foot for a sponsored toddle, an auction and events to mark World Book Day. We will also be hosting a terra-cycle recycling point for Hasbro toys. Please do let Lin, Kate or someone on the committee know if you’re still interested in getting involved with the committee or helping out with any fundraising as we’d love to hear from you.

We’d also like to remind you all of two other easy ways of raising essential funds for the Pre-School when doing any online shopping:

  1. Easy Fundraising: Visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk and click ‘Create an Account’, then ‘Find a cause to support’ and search ‘Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest Club’. Hit ‘Support this cause’, register your details and remember to turn on Donation Reminders. Every time you shop online at collaborating retailers, a notification will appear, and all you need to do is select ‘Collect Donation’. You can also download the Easy Fundraising app and shop directly through that.
  2. Amazon Smile – visit http://smile.amazon.co.uk, click ‘Get Started’, sign in to your account and then choose ‘Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest Club’ as your favourite charity. Every time you shop, 0.5% of your spend will be donated to the Pre-School. Just remember to always go through the smile.amazon.co.uk page before you start shopping.

Thank you so much to all of you who have been using these already, it really does all does add up!

As lockdown continues and it approaches a year of living with restrictions, we realise what a frustrating time this is for everyone. Thank you for continuing to support our Pre-School and enabling it to continue to flourish and provide a hugely appreciated slice of normality for our kids during these strange times. We hope you have a lovely, relaxing, cosy half term break together.

With warmest wishes,

Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest Club Committee
