5 September : Call for Fundraisers!

Your Pre-School needs you!  Calling all Pre-School parents!

You may not be aware, but Bishop Sutton Pre-School is run by a volunteer-led committee that has to raise a lot of money through fundraising to ensure the continuation of the Pre-School and the wonderful care it provides for all of our children.

We can only do this with the support of our parents and carers.  So if you can spare a few hours a month to join our committee and help organise and run our fundraising events please just let Lin or Julie know, or speak to our chair, Annabelle Spinney.  They will be able to let you have more information on what you can do to help support our great team of care providers with the equipment and funds they need.

Contact Annabelle Spinney below to find out more!  Thank you!

21 January : Bishop Sutton Film Club

Lights! Camera! Action! It’s the first date for our Spring programme of films at Bishop Sutton Film Club, a joint initiative from our Pre-School and The Link.

We have another two film shows for January:

Our film licence sadly doesn’t permit us openly advertising our films, but to request our forthcoming film schedule and to book your seats either email us on to join our mailing list, or why not join our Facebook group, Bishop Sutton Film Club to stay all up to date.

Bishop Sutton Film Club aims to offer a movie theatre experience for all, with film showings of both classic and new release titles on a big screen but with no charge for ticketing.

Our film showings are free for all but we ask for a small voluntary donation and that you please don’t bring your own snacks but instead buy our delicious cinema snacks – as all profits are kindly being donated to Bishop Sutton Preschool and Forest Club.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

23 April: Rockola at the Village Hall

Well you rocked, and you rolled, and you raised an amazing £1765.00 for our Pre-School!

So a big thank you to everyone who supported our Rockola Band Night in April.  It was a truly exceptional evening of dancing to hits from the 1960’s and 1970’s including The Beatles, The Eagles, The Beach Boys, T-Rex, Elvis, Iggy Pop, Dire Straits, Wizard, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Status Quo, ELO and many many more.

19 June: Chew Valley 10k & 1K races

The races are run, and the winners acknowledged, so all that is left is for us to say a massive THANK YOU to all of you who baked or bought cakes for our refreshments stall at the event this year, and the to the fantastic team of volunteers who gave up their time to sell, sell, sell on the day.  Altogether we smashed last year’s fundraising total with a fantastic £1212.00 raised!  A special word of thanks to the lovely team at Pullin’s Bakery, who once again donated over 300 cakes for our stall!

Funding for two year-olds

The Early Years Team at B&NES have asked us to tell you that the process for checking eligibility for two year old funding will be changing in July 2013 (to start in September 2013).

Parents will be able to self-refer by contacting the Free School Meals team on 01225 394317 and quoting your date of birth and national insurance number. You will then be told if you qualify for the funding. If eligible, you will be sent a letter with a unique reference number which you will need to bring in to show us to claim the funding.

We have copies of the self-referral information leaflet for families, which we hope explains the eligibility requirements. Please ask if you would like us to forward one to you.
